Leads to CUF30107 Certificate III in Media
Hands on learning with leading documentary filmmakers. Aimed at people with little or no experience, this 14-week program comprises intensive, hands-on learning that introduces you to industry standards as you make your own documentary short film with industry professionals and one-to-one mentoring from leading documentary filmmaker Dennis K. Smith.
Dennis is an award-winning independent filmmaker who has made numerous documentaries for television, commissioned films, short films and has written two published histories. Dennis wrote and directed the documentary Rainbow Bird and Monster Man, which was nominated for four Australian Film Institute Awards, a Logie Award and won two AWGIE Awards, including the prestigious Gold AWGIE. Dennis was a Producer on Jeff Daniels' documentary The Ten Conditions of Love. He has been a script assessor for the Australian Film Commission and the NSW Film & Television Office and has served as a judge for Australian Writers' Guild Awards and the AFI Awards. Dennis recently directed the documentary Kapyong for Foxtel/Documentary Channel.
You will have ongoing access to Open Channel equipment and facilities over the 14 week study period to enhance your learning experience.
