This intensive, practical workshop takes you through the basics of shooting a short drama script, and allows you to perform every role (including acting) on set.

OLIVIA PENISTON-BIRD
Olivia has worked in television, feature film and documentary production, and film festival programming. As London based Assistant Director Olivia worked with leading UK directors including Jonathon Glazer (Sexy Beast) Roger Michell (Enduring Love) and Pawel Pawlikowski (My Summer of Love) on films in England, Scotland, Wales, Spain, Croatia, Bosnia, The Dominican Republic and Cuba. Upon returning to Melbourne Olivia began her directing career. Her short film Goggles, was a Sony Tropfest finalist, and her short film Stony Point was selected for the Melbourne International Film Festival in where she was selected to attend its Accelerator program. Olivia is currently in post-production of her first feature length documentary Calisthenics: A Love Story.

NICK MOORE
Nick has been making films for twenty years. He has worked under all kinds of production circumstances, from DIY guerilla to one hundred person crews and trailers everywhere. Over the years, he has fulfilled many different roles on set and worked in every department. Nick is also an award-winning short film maker, a sought-after editor and was a programmer for the Melbourne International Film Festival for several years.

HELEN GAYNOR
Helen has been a director in documentary and drama for more than 20 years. She worked for several years at ABC TV, directing and producing everything from The 7.30 Report to Countdown. Her drama credits include The D-Generation, A Country Practice, Neighbours, Home and Away, Big Sky, High Fliers, Something in the Air, and MDA. Her documentaries include: Impunidad, The Election of the Century, For the Defence; A Little Inconvenience; Nurses; Welcome 2 My Deaf World and Community Cop.

RACHAEL THOMPSON
After graduating from film school with the Best Film award, Rachael has since worked on Australia Network’s educational television program 'Nexus', on independent documentaries for ABC, SBS, BBC and National Geographic and as a producer on ABC radio. She has been working as a leader and coordinator of filmmaking workshops for young people, adults and specialist groups across Australia since 2004.
