This is a highly demanding and pressurised job, and involves working as part of the on-the-floor team.
The work of Standby Props is vital to the successful running of film shoots, and this job was one recently identified by a key industry stakeholder as an area of skills shortage.
In this course you will learn how to:
- work effectively as a part of the filmmaking process
- assemble and maintain hand props
- give direction to actors on props
- adjusting the set dressing to the Camera crew's requirements
- position props for camera
- maintain props & set continuity
- develop intuition and creative problem solving skills
- apply OHS knowledge, and employ safe manual handling techniques
- undertake basic on set art repairs, and basic tools used for maintenance
- develop a general knowledge of decorative styles
