Production Advisory Service
What is the Production Advisory Service?
The Production Advisory Service/Mentorship Program (PAS) is a new Open Channel service for OC Members, providing production advice and consultancy, career pathways and professional development. PAS provides advice on all aspects of filmmaking, whether it be funding, writing a budget, script assistance, finding a producer, marketing & distribution, and more.
Open Channel has developed this important program for emerging filmmakers and screen practitioners, industry newcomers and professionals who require assistance in various production areas. We have created a list of “mentors” who can be called upon to provide valuable advice.
How can the Production Advisory Service help you?
Production houses, government film bodies, etc. are often approached by industry newcomers but rarely have the facilities, the time or motivation to provide such a varied range of assistance.
With experienced staff and access to a varied group of industry professionals Open Channel is in a position to provide a service that does not exist to the same extent in Victoria.
The Production Advisory Service offers graduates and emerging filmmakers the opportunity to achieve credits and enhance their chances for future employment. This innovative program teams new filmmakers and screen practitioners with industry professionals, and is designed to provide the guidance and support needed to bridge the gap between skill development and employment within the industry. There is an identifiable gap between screen training graduates and those who are in a position to seek/obtain funding from Government film bodies, private investors and sponsorship. Open Channel will strive to assist filmmakers to bridge this gap through advice, skill development, mentorship and where possible through production experience on OC-related productions.
How the Service works
The first half hour we will discuss your production enquiries free of charge - this can be over the phone or face-to-face. If you require further instruction Open Channel can offer a mentor service. Top professionals in the field you require can provide this service for a fee of $100 per hour (minimum 2 hours). We recognise however that each project is unique, and are happy to remain flexible while endeavouring to find the right professional to guide you.
