Asher Treleauen, with his comedy-doco series "On Becoming a Man". Asher, who has a background in standup comedy, had the audience engaged with his funny and clear pitch. Home is Where the Hall Is – Documentary Web Series
Throughout January, 2012
Shot in various locations around Victoria in October now in post-production
"Whether a community hall is historic or contemporary, they all hold within their walls the stories, collective memories and lifeblood of their communities."
- Ted Baillieu, Premier of Victoria and Minister for the Arts, May 2011
Launched by Premier and Minister for the Arts Ted Baillieu at the Dunkeld Memorial Hall, Home is Where the Hall is a grassroots, community arts initiative coordinated by Regional Arts Victoria that celebrates the role of community halls across Victoria. During the month of November 2011, 68 halls from Mildura to Mallacoota will present a huge range of activities, selected and designed by the local community. From bake–offs to dance competitions, photography exhibitions to film nights, Home is Where the Hall is will be a unique and dynamic celebration of these vital community hubs.
Supported by Film Victoria and Screen Australia, and presented by Open Channel in collaboration with Regional Arts Victoria, Home is Where the Hall is: Documentary Web Series will preserve these unique stories through an innovative production/upskilling program that brings together filmmakers from around Victoria to create a series of short documentaries under the guidance of leading documentary producer Dennis K. Smith (Kapyong, The Ten Conditions of Love).
