As of 2016, the Short & Sharp Pitching Competition will no longer run.
Three finalists from metropolitan Melbourne, alongside two finalists from regional Victoria, had the opportunity to pitch in front of emerging and experienced producers on Monday 31 August 2015, during Open Channel’s Generation Next Micro Movie conference. The 2015 competition will be targeting micro budget movie ideas that could be made for under $250,000.
Finalists received one-on-one advice on how to refine and pitch a screen project in preparation, and received valuable critical analysis on the project and its market from an external panel at the live pitch event.
2015’s expert panel included Jason Byrne, (Producer, How To Talk Australians, Rats and Cats, Little Deaths), Alkinos Tsilimidos, (Director, Em 4 Jay), and Virginia Kay, (Producer, Sugar Mountain).

Each year, the Short & Sharp Pitching competition was held in two locations in regional Victoria, with the final round held in Melbourne. Previously, the Short & Sharp Pitching Competition regional finals have been delivered in Warrnambool, Shepparton and Ballarat.
