Awarded the 2014 Screen Leader Award for Outstanding Leadership, Achievement and Service to the Screen Industry, Nadia Tass is one of Australia’s most respected and unique filmmakers. Tass directed her first feature film Malcolm (1986) to critical acclaim. The film went on to win 23 International awards including 8 AFI’s. She followed with features Rikky and Pete (1987), The Big Steal (1989), Mr Reliable (1997), Amy (1998), which received 28 international awards, and Matching Jack (2010).
She directs films for major studios & networks in America including Universal Studios, Disney, Warner Bros, CBS and the mini-series Stark for BBC UK. In 2012 Nadia was honoured by the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles with a retrospective of her work.
Previously retrospectives of her work have shown in Moscow, Cape Town & Johannesburg, Hawaii and New Delhi. Tass has sat on film festival juries for the Hawaii Film Festival, St. Tropez (as the head of the jury,) Asian Festival Of First Films, and the Pune International Film Festival (as the chair of the jury.)
