What makes a good show reel? How do you sell your skills? How do you give yourself the best possible shot at getting the job? Come along and find out! Show reels have been submitted and are almost ready to screen! This is a great opportunity for independent filmmakers to gain constructive feedback and advice from industry professionals, their peers and the public. Featuring the show reels of Jonathan Macpherson (writer/producer/director), David Rusanow (DOP) and Katherine Phelps (writer/director), this free event will be a very valuable learning experience.

Starring Paul Hogan and Shane Jacobson (Kenny), Charlie And Boots was a box office smash-hit amongst Australian films in a year which saw more than 30 Australian feature films released in cinemas. It achieved the second highest opening weekend and overall box office of any Australian film this year.

Following the announcement last week of Channel 31's digital broadcast license which will see its audience reach expanding greatly, Open Channel is co-delivering this fast-paced course which takes you through all the roles required to work in a television studio to put a live show taping together, and then gets you to work as a crew to record a number of episodes. Delivered on site at Melbourne's Channel 31 studios by experienced television technician Paul Dolence (Deal or No Deal, Blue Heelers, Australian Open, AFL), this 6-day course will open the doors to work in community television or with other broadcasters.
